Witness the forests open up to dramatic waterfalls as your guide leads you north to the famous and notable village of Dunkeld where you sample your first delicious whiskey of the Speyside tour.
Take a lunch break at the beautiful Pitlochry, a favourite of tourists and locals alike. Post lunch, head to the source of the River Spey where another treat awaits – Scotland’s highest distillery at Dalwhinnie. Sample a dram of smoky or earthy whiskey and continue to head through the Cairngorms before arriving at Grantown on Spey. Reflect on your wonderful start to the whiskey trail as you unpack at Grantown, your base for two nights.
Day 2
The second day on the trail promises a dazzling selection of whiskeys in some of the best distilleries of Scotland. As your guide takes you on a scenic drive past the coast, make your first stop at Benromach Distillery, a family owned establishment that offers a personalized tour. After Benromach, Elgin awaits at only a short distance where you can visit the globally renowned whisky bottlers and suppliers Gordon & MacPhail.
Spend some time at Elgin and head onward to Craigellachie and visit the Speyside Cooperage where you can appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into making the perfect whisky cask. You may choose to take a lunch break here or in Aberlour which is also nearby. Post lunch, head to Cardhu distillery, home to the infamous Johnnie Walker Black Label and also the only malt distillery pioneered by a woman. From here you travel back to Grantown on Spey.
Day 3
Visit the source of the world famous Glenlivet whiskey at the distillery surrounded by serene trails and wonderful wildlife. Situated in the midst of a beautiful glen, the Glenlivet distillery is a must-see.
