Ever wanted to experience and see the might of a live volcano! The lava flows changing the very landscape you’re in, before your very eyes! It’s really a once in a lifetime experience, and something to tell your family and friends when you return home. Well, you're in Iceland, and there are opportunities to see this natural phenomenon.
It’s the first eruption to occur for around 800 years for the Reykjanes Peninsula. Creating an amazing opportunity to study the event and the mysteries of the region.
Now you can see this natural event, the experts have long predicted, would happen. You’ll need to pack your hiking gear as you head out to the volcanic eruption in Geldingadular and the Fagradalsfjall Volcano.
Hop in the bus from your designated pick-up point, and you’ll be driven with your guide to the start point. From here, it’s a 1.5-hour hike to the region. Where you’ll see the raw power of the lava pouring out of the surface of the earth and witness how the lava is changing the very landscape, you’re walking on.
With your guide at hand, you’ll witness nature at work in one of the most dramatic landscapes on the planet. Then it's a trek back, knowing that you'd have had quite the adventure.

The telephone connection in the area is bad and it can therefore be difficult to call for help if needed.
Gas pollution is strongest close to the area and can lurk in valleys and dells where it is particularly dangerous.
